Professor Jonathan Clark AM

Jonathan is a Head and Neck Surgeon at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Royal Prince Alfred hospital. He is the Lang Walker Family Foundation Professor and Chair in Head and Neck Cancer Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Sydney and Director of head and neck cancer research at Lifehouse.

Background:   

Professor Clark undertook a two-year fellowship in Head and Neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery at the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, University Health Network, Toronto, Canada and completed a Masters of Biostatistics at the University of Sydney.

Professor Clark's clinical focus is on surgery for salivary gland tumours, mouth cancer, digital planning for precision jaw reconstruction and dental rehabilitation, facial nerve reconstruction for cancer, and transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for throat cancer. He has trained > 30 international surgeons in microvascular reconstruction since commencing work at Royal Prince Alfred in 2006. He is a Member of the Order of Australia for contributions to head and neck surgery and was appointed a Master Surgeon by the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncological Societies (IFHNOS).                                           

Jonathan is an avid lure fisherman and spends his spare time making lures and fishing on the Port Hacking river.

Research Interests: 

Jonathan is focussed on cutting edge technology to assist in facial reconstruction including the use of digital planning and 3D printing.
