Prof Hack is also the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Chair in Psychosocial and Supportive Care Oncology Research. The workshop was an opportunity for 6 Sydney Catalyst members to present a concept that can be developed into a research protocol, funding application or for optimal translation into practice.

The 6 presentations were diverse and covered projects related to treatment decision making for patients with lung cancer, anxiety and depression in cancer patients, advance care planning conversations, palliative care and advance care planning in general practice, digitally supported self-examinations of the skin for melanoma, and clinical practice improvement and translational research in the SLHD Cancer Services.

Each project benefited from discussions and suggestions for improvement which were facilitated by local faculty with expertise in implementation research, health services research, epidemiology, psycho-oncology, cancer nursing and palliative care research (Prof Jane Philips, Prof Lyndal Trevena, Prof Tim Shaw, and Prof Madeleine King).
