The Sydney Catalyst International Translational Research Symposium hit L'Aqua, and what a fantastic turn out! A full program of engaging speakers presented to a ballroom packed to the rafters.

The highlight, apart from a relaxing lunch affair on the sun-drenched deck, was Julie McCrossin facilitating a lively panel discussion, delving deeply and humorously into the meaning of 'sexy research', and later, assessing Professor John Simes' closing statement with an enthusiastic, "Look at that! Brevity and coherence".

We took in a host of hot topics from our highly acclaimed speakers including:

  • 'Where we make an investment in cancer research, we see a change' - Prof David Currow
  • 'Novel drug delivery for novel drugs' - a Sydney Catalyst facilitated collaboration between Prof David McKenzie & Assoc. Prof Glen Reid
  • 'How precision in radiotherapy is making a real difference to patients. No longer a sledgehammer' - Adj/Prof Martin Ebert
  • 'Clinical trials save health care $ and improve outcomes' - Dr Derek Raghavan

The Symposium was capped off with sunset drinks and canapés overlooking Darling Harbour. After the success of this event we're already looking forward to the next.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on the Symposium if you've got a moment to complete our online evaluation. Your feedback will help make the next Symposium even more relevant and exciting.

HELD: Tuesday 8 August, 2017

WHERE: L'Aqua @ Dockside, Darling Harbour

Keynote Speakers

We were delighted to have the following keynote speakers:

The program was developed by an expert organising committee chaired by our own Senior Translational Research Fellow Dr Nicole Rankin. In addition to the 3 keynote speakers we secured x11 invited oral presentations from Sydney Catalyst members and collaborators and had Julie McCrossin facilitating a highly engaging and interactive panel discussion.
