Merran Findlay

Merran provides input into the overall Sydney Catalyst program via the T2/T3 Working Group by contributing to the generate of new ideas, building capacity and advocating for the interests of members working in the evidence into practice space.

Background:

Merran is the Executive Research Lead-Cancer Nutrition at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney Local Health District working in partnership with Chris O'Brien Lifehouse where she holds an appointment as Oncology Dietetics Clinical Research Fellow. Specialising in nutrition support of people with cancer for more than 20 years, she is recognised as an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and currently serves as Chair of the national Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) Nutrition Group. Merran is a recent National Health and Medical Research Council Translating Research Into Practice Fellow and current Sydney Research PhD Scholar. Her research interests include the impact of skeletal muscle status, nutritional status and nutrition intervention on clinical, cost and patient-centred outcomes as well as evidence synthesis, dissemination and implementation. As Adjunct Senior Lecturer, she actively contributes to the cancer nutrition teaching program at the University of Sydney. In 2019 Merran was awarded the Dietitians Australia (DA) Outstanding Contribution Award and the DA-COSA Prize for Outstanding Cancer Nutrition Research. She has been involved with Sydney Catalyst since its inception and is a current member of the Scientific Advisory Committee and the T2/T3 Working Group. In 2020 she was awarded the Derek Hart Travel and Education Award for Commitment to Sydney Catalyst and Translational Cancer Research.
