Sydney Catalyst members awarded Cancer Council NSW grants

In March 2020, Cancer Council NSW announced over nine million dollars of funding towards fourteen cutting-edge research projects. Five of these projects are led by Sydney Catalyst members:

  • Professor John Rasko and his team will be focussing on a new potential treatment for pancreatic cancer and mesothelioma
  • Dr Ulf Schmitz has received funding for his project on gene regulation in cancer cells
  • Associate Professor Alex Swarbrick and his team will be working on improving outcomes for people with mestastatic breast cancer
  • Associate Professor Matthew Naylor and his team will be working to improve identification of prostate cancer and how it progresses so that patients can be treated appropriately depending on how aggressive their cancer is
  • Professor Geoffrey McCaughan's project will test two potential new treatments for Hepatocellular Carcinoma - the most common type of primary liver cancer.

We would like to congratulate all our members and look forward to following your research journeys. Please don't hesitate to keep us updated with how your research is progressing.
